The 2008 Steven Walters Foundation Snowy Ride - 8th of November
( Not an endorsed UTA ride)
Background Since the inaugural Snowy Ride in 2001, thousands of 2 and three wheelers have descended on the Snowies for a weekend of fun and great riding. Last year Buck, Uncle Ron, Matt and I attended and it was a terrific weekend. The ride is run very well and its not your usual mass ride, race type event.
The Ride There is no starting or finishing point and we are free to ride the hills and dales as we see fit stopping at check points to get our cards stamped and sample the local food and drink.Late Saturday afternoon there is a mass ride into Thredbo which is quite spectacular. This is followed by live bands and merry making for as long as you can take it.
Fees and Prizes There is an entry fee of $60 per rider or Pillion. Yes there are Prizes. A Honda Goldwing and Honda Fireblade are on offer plus lots of other minor prizes.
Accommodation Last year we stayed at a place called Karinya Lodge near Jindabyne, which was fairly basic but lots of fun and comfortable. However there is a vast array of accommodation available if you want something more up market.
For more info on the ride it self and to get an entry form: www.snowyride.com.au or email info@snowyride.com.au
Those who are interested in joining Buck,Matt and myself in the high country in November can contact either Buck or myself for details. Thor
